LG Ghana unveils affordable appliances tailored to African households

Accra, September 26, 2026 — LG Electronics Ghana has unveiled a new range of affordable home appliances designed to expand access to quality technology for households and businesses in Ghana.

The products were launched at the LG NPI Launch and Dealer Seminar held at The Palms by Eagles in Accra under the theme, “Smart Choice. Smarter Living.”

The event brought together media professionals, dealers, staff and business partners. Mr. Hari Elluru delivered the welcome address, while Mr. Lerry Wang gave the keynote address. The afternoon dealer seminar was opened by Mr. Ibrahim Amidu, Chief Executive Officer of Spark 1 Capital.

Speaking during the product presentation, LG Master Trainer, Mr. Olugbenga Ogunbayo, explained that the company was developing products for different categories of customers.

“We are just saying that we have got categories of customers in the market,” he said.

He added that LG’s products were designed to respond to specific consumer needs, particularly in African homes.

“Most of the needs for the African market has to do with the preservation of our food items—from the fruits to the vegetables to legumes, whatever you’ve got in Ghana.”

The new range includes French-door refrigerators, top- and bottom-freezer refrigerators, one-door refrigerators, chest freezers, twin-tub washing machines and microwave ovens with African auto-cook menus.

Mr. Ogunbayo highlighted features including inverter compressors, convertible storage compartments, direct cooling systems, auto-restart functions, energy-saving technology and easy-clean interiors.

Speaking about the brand’s product design, he said:

“When you see LG product, the design is always unique.”

The presentation also focused on the challenges created by power interruptions. Explaining the auto-restart function on the washing machines, Mr. Ogunbayo said:

“When the power resumes, it continues from where it stops.”

The launch also featured a product and technology video, cultural performances, product unveiling, product demonstrations, closing remarks and media interviews.

Representatives of Giant Tek Limited, LG’s distributor in Ghana, including Mr. Hari Elluru and Mr. Lerry Wang, participated in the event alongside Mr. Ibrahim Amidu.

The dealer seminar focused on go-to-market and marketing activities, product demonstrations, service and after-sales information, dealer sales support and a sell-through basket scheme. Dealers also engaged LG representatives during a question-and-answer session.

The event underscored LG Electronics Ghana’s commitment to making smart, practical and affordable appliances more accessible while strengthening its relationship with dealers and consumers in Ghana.
