Ghana Police Arrest Christford Affadu Danful After Disturbing Video Surfaces Online
The Ghana Police Service, through the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has arrested a suspect seen in a viral video physically assaulting a woman, sparking nationwide outrage on social media.
The suspect, Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, was arrested on Thursday, January 15, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team after the video circulated widely online.
According to preliminary police investigations, the suspect and the victim were previously cohabiting and had a troubled relationship marked by frequent disagreements. These disagreements reportedly escalated from verbal confrontations into repeated physical assaults, culminating in the incident captured in the viral footage.
The disturbing video, which showed the woman being physically attacked, triggered strong public condemnation and calls for swift police action. The Ghana Police Service moved quickly to identify and apprehend the suspect, demonstrating its commitment to addressing gender-based violence and cyber-related crimes.
Christford Affadu Danful is currently in lawful police custody and is expected to be arraigned before a court in the coming days to face charges in accordance with Ghanaian law.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives, upholding the rule of law, and dealing decisively with acts of violence, especially those captured and spread through digital platforms.
The Police further encouraged members of the public to continue reporting acts of abuse and violence, emphasizing that perpetrators will be pursued and held accountable regardless of how long it takes.
