The death of Nana Yaw Agyei, a Ghanaian student in Latvia, has sparked outrage and renewed calls for justice after his family and supporters strongly rejected initial claims that he died by suicide.

Nana Agyei, a first-year Electrical Engineering student, was reported dead on June 4, 2025, with early reports suggesting that he had jumped from the sixth floor of his apartment building. However, emerging details from the family and close sources now allege that the young Ghanaian did not take his own life.

According to accounts circulating among family members and advocates, Nana Agyei had allegedly been subjected to repeated racial abuse during his stay in Latvia. It is further alleged that his apartment was ransacked, and that individuals posing as his friends may have poisoned him prior to his death.
