Dancehall feud traced to legacy conflict, not personal hatred
Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale has once again addressed his long-discussed relationship with fellow artist Stonebwoy, stating clearly that he holds no personal grudge against him. According to Shatta Wale, the tension that has defined their relationship over the years did not originate directly between them but was rather inherited from Stonebwoy’s father and mentor, Samini.
Speaking candidly, Shatta Wale explained that his issues were originally with Samini during the early stages of his career, long before Stonebwoy rose to prominence in the dancehall space. He believes that when Stonebwoy entered the industry under Samini’s guidance, the existing rivalry and unresolved tensions were indirectly passed on.
Shatta Wale emphasized that, contrary to public perception, he has made several genuine attempts to make peace with Stonebwoy. These efforts, he says, were aimed at fostering unity within the Ghanaian music industry and ending years of public clashes, lyrical jabs, and fan-fueled hostility. Unfortunately, all those reconciliation efforts failed to yield positive results.
The self-acclaimed “Dancehall King” maintained that he has matured over the years and now prioritizes peace, growth, and the global projection of Ghanaian music. He stressed that prolonged conflicts only slow down progress and distract from the bigger picture of building a stronger industry.
Despite the ongoing narrative of rivalry, Shatta Wale insists there is no hatred in his heart toward Stonebwoy. He believes the situation has been misunderstood by fans and amplified by social media, creating a perception of constant animosity even when efforts at peace were made behind the scenes.
The long-standing Shatta Wale–Stonebwoy rivalry remains one of the most talked-about feuds in Ghana’s music history, often dividing fans and sparking heated debates online. However, Shatta Wale’s latest remarks suggest a willingness to close that chapter, even if the response has not been mutual.
