The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has commissioned a new Ultra Center at Dome in the Greater Accra Region, bringing essential driver and vehicle licensing services closer to residents and surrounding communities.
The facility, operated in partnership with VITO S-Class Services Ltd., forms part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to decentralise operations, reduce congestion at existing offices and improve access to efficient public services across Ghana.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Chief Executive of the DVLA, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, disclosed that the Dome Ultra Center is the 23rd new DVLA office commissioned within the past one-and-a-half years.
He explained that for many years residents of Dome and nearby communities had travelled long distances to access basic DVLA services, adding that the new facility would significantly improve convenience and service delivery.
“What we are commissioning is more than a facility. It is a statement of institutional intent: proximity to government services should not be a privilege reserved for those near regional capitals,” Mr. Kotey stated.
According to him, the new Ultra Center has been designed to provide orderly processes, shorter waiting times, courteous customer service and a modern environment that respects customers’ time.
Mr. Kotey further noted that the physical expansion of DVLA’s network is being complemented by an ongoing digital transformation agenda aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening road safety nationwide.
He added that the Authority continues to deepen collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and other regulatory institutions to ensure only properly licensed drivers and roadworthy vehicles operate on Ghana’s roads.
The DVLA Chief Executive urged staff assigned to the new office to uphold professionalism, integrity and excellent customer service, stressing that quality public service ultimately depends on the people delivering it.
He also encouraged residents of Dome and neighbouring communities to fully utilise the new facility while holding the Authority accountable to the high service standards it has pledged to maintain.
Chief Executive Officer of VITO S-Class Services Ltd., Mrs. Jacqueline Oppong Mensah, praised the leadership of Mr. Kotey for expanding access to DVLA services through strategic public-private partnerships.
She said the Ultra Center initiative is bringing essential government services closer to communities, reducing the activities of middlemen and creating employment opportunities for young people.
Mrs. Oppong Mensah added that the Dome facility will reduce travel time for motorists, improve convenience, boost economic activity and contribute to safer roads across the Greater Accra Region.
“As a vehicle inspection company, we understand the critical role that effective vehicle inspection plays in ensuring vehicles on our roads meet the required safety standards. Every properly inspected vehicle contributes to safer roads, protects lives and strengthens confidence in our transportation system,” she said.
