Authorities in Anambra State, Nigeria, have arrested a 36-year-old woman following a viral video that allegedly showed the sexual exploitation of a minor.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the arrest after investigators acted on information and open-source intelligence relating to the disturbing footage circulating online.
Woman Arrested in Onitsha
According to the police, operatives arrested the woman, identified in reports as Anulika Onyeanusia, in Onitsha on September 10, 2026.
The command said the investigation concerns allegations involving the sexual exploitation of a child and the production of inappropriate online material.
Police also rescued four children during the operation, aged two, three, six and nine, respectively. Items described as relevant to the investigation were also recovered.
Husband Questioned by Police
The police confirmed that the suspect’s husband is also being questioned as investigators work to establish whether other people were connected to the alleged offence.
The command said the woman remains in police custody while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the allegations and the possible involvement of other persons.
Children Placed Under Protection
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the allegations as deeply disturbing and unacceptable, particularly because they involve children who are unable to protect themselves.
He directed investigators to conduct a thorough and professional investigation while ensuring that the rescued children receive appropriate care and protection.
The police also stressed that the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the children remain a priority. Their identities and privacy are expected to be protected throughout the investigation.
