Andre Ayew calls for support for young players in the national team

Andre Ayew, leader of Ghana’s national team, recently urged fellow Ghanaians to unite in support of the emerging talents within the Black Stars squad.

Speaking at a sports psychology lecture at the University of Ghana, Ayew highlighted the unique journeys of these young players, many of whom began their careers abroad.

“Our squad is youthful and navigating the experience of representing our nation,” Ayew remarked. “Unlike past generations who rose through local leagues, these players started abroad and now face the challenge of reconnecting with Ghanaian culture and values.”

Ayew emphasised the importance of national support in helping these players embrace their roles. “Psychologically, it’s crucial that everyone acknowledges the significance of Ghana and its football,” he stressed. “These young talents need our encouragement to fully grasp the honour of playing for their country.”

The Black Stars captain expressed confidence in the team’s commitment, anticipating strong performances from these emerging stars. Ghana’s upcoming challenges include qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Angola on September 2nd and Niger on the 10th.
