Singer sparks debate after controversial spiritual claims in Zion Felix interview
Ghanaian musician Mzbel has stirred widespread debate on social media after making bold spiritual claims about the internet, smartphones, and modern technology during an interview with Zion Felix.
According to Mzbel, the famous 666, often described in the Bible as the “number of the beast,” is not something people should be waiting to appear in the future, because it already exists in everyday life through the internet and modern technology.
“People are waiting for the beast to appear, but it’s already here. 666 is already here and it’s the internet we all use,” Mzbel stated. She went on to argue that anyone who uses a smartphone and the internet has already embraced it, while those who do not, in her view, have not taken part in it.
Mzbel further explained that digital platforms, especially music streaming platforms, go beyond technology and science, describing them as spiritual platforms. She claimed these platforms are intentionally labelled as technology to make them sound appealing, while their true nature, according to her, is spiritual.
“And all those music platforms, they are all spiritual platforms. They call it technology or science because they want it to sound nice in your ear, but it is spiritual and it’s not free,” she said.
The singer also alleged that musicians who upload their songs onto digital platforms are unknowingly engaging in a spiritual trade, claiming the platforms take an artist’s energy in exchange for exposure and reach.
Her comments have since triggered mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with her spiritual interpretation of modern technology, while others have dismissed the claims as extreme or misleading. Critics argue that technology is simply a tool, while supporters believe her statements highlight deeper spiritual concerns about digital dependence.
As the conversation continues to trend across Ghana media platforms, Mzbel’s remarks have once again placed her at the centre of national discussion, reinforcing her reputation for outspoken and controversial views on religion, spirituality, and society.
