Kwesi Arthur Alleges Threats and Image Rights Dispute With Ground Up Chale

Rapper claims he is being blocked from releasing music independently

Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur has publicly raised alarm over what he describes as ongoing threats, intimidation, and attempts to block his independent music career, allegedly involving Glen Boateng and members of the Ground Up Chale team.

In a strongly worded public statement, the artist claimed he is currently being asked to pay $150,000 for using images of himself in a new independent project. According to Kwesi Arthur, Ground Up Chale is allegedly asserting ownership over his image, music, and personal brand from 2016 to the present, despite his claim that he has not worked with or been affiliated with the company since the release of Son of Jacob.

Kwesi Arthur further alleged that he has not earned any income from his music during the years he worked under the label and accused Glen Boateng of benefiting financially from his labor while subjecting him to “constant threats and manipulation.”

The rapper stated that if his current independent project is taken down, he believes Glen Boateng would be responsible, alleging deliberate efforts to prevent him from releasing music again.

Expressing concern for his mental health, wellbeing, and family safety, Kwesi Arthur said he chose to speak publicly after remaining silent for a long time, describing the situation as emotionally distressing.

It is important to note that these claims are allegations made by Kwesi Arthur and have not been independently verified at the time of publication. Ground Up Chale and Glen Boateng have not yet issued a public response to the accusations.

The situation has sparked intense discussion across social media, with fans and industry observers calling for transparency, legal clarity, and due process.
