Former Black Stars Management Committee member Kudjoe Fianoo has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to act swiftly by appointing Technical Director Winfried Schäfer as interim head coach following the departure of Otto Addo.

Speaking to Kessben Sports, Fianoo stressed that time is not on Ghana’s side, warning that delays in appointing a coach could disrupt preparations ahead of crucial international fixtures and the World Cup campaign.
“The technical director at the GFA understands the Ghanaian terrain, so I’ll suggest we give him the national team to handle on an interim basis while we take our time to look for a new coach,” Fianoo stated.
He emphasized that Schäfer’s familiarity with Ghana’s football structure makes him the ideal short-term solution while the GFA conducts a thorough search for a long-term coach.
Background to Otto Addo’s Exit
The GFA parted ways with Otto Addo after a string of poor performances, including heavy defeats to Austria and Germany during the March international window.
