The BVB International Academy Ghana, scheduled to officially launch in February 2026, will provide structured football development programmes for boys and girls aged 6 to 18. The academy will operate under both elite and recreational pathways, ensuring opportunities for talented players aiming for professional careers as well as those developing skills for personal growth and education.

The academy will follow Borussia Dortmund’s globally recognised football philosophy, focusing on technical excellence, discipline, education, and character development. Coaches will be trained under BVB standards, ensuring consistency with the German club’s youth development model used in Europe and other international academies.

Officials say the decision to base the academy in Ghana reflects the country’s strong football culture, raw talent pool, and growing reputation as a hub for youth sports development in Africa. The project is also expected to create local employment opportunities while strengthening grassroots football structures.

With this move, Ghana joins a select list of countries hosting official Borussia Dortmund academies, further enhancing the nation’s profile on the global football stage.
