Breaking: Ghanaian Battalion in Southern Lebanon Targeted in Missile Attack

Two Soldiers Critically Injured, One Traumatized

The Ghanaian Battalion Headquarters in Southern Lebanon came under a missile attack today between 17:45 and 17:52 local time, resulting in two soldiers sustaining critical injuries and one soldier experiencing trauma. The Officers’ Mess facility was completely destroyed by fire.

Medical Evacuation and Treatment

The injured soldiers are receiving immediate medical care and are reported to be in stable condition. Arrangements are underway to transfer them to the UNIFIL Headquarters Referral Hospital for further treatment.

Safety Measures and Government Response

The Ghana Armed Forces assured the public that all troops are currently safe in underground bunkers. In response to the attack, the Government of Ghana has lodged a formal protest at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

UNIFIL Operations and Support

The incident underscores the ongoing risks faced by UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon. UNIFIL continues to provide support and coordination to ensure the safety and security of all personnel deployed in the region.

A concerned citizen suggested the military should return back to Ghana.
