Taxi Driver Rams Robbers to Save MoMo Vendor as Residents Call for Support
A brave taxi driver at Darkuman in Accra stopped an armed robbery in its tracks after two suspects attacked a mobile money (MoMo) vendor and made away with GH¢7,700. In a swift act of courage, the driver deliberately rammed his vehicle into the fleeing robbers, causing them to fall and disrupting their escape.
One of the suspects was apprehended by residents and police, while the other managed to escape in the ensuing confusion. Thankfully, the stolen cash was recovered and handed over to authorities.
The taxi driver’s intervention drew widespread praise online, with many calling him a hero for protecting the community and preventing further harm. However, his vehicle — his main source of livelihood — sustained significant damage to the front bumper during the rescue effort.
Members of the public and social media users have since urged support for the driver to help him repair his damaged taxi, recognizing his selfless act in the face of danger.
