Two Brothers Die While Trying To Save Younger Sibling From Drowning In Volta Region Quarry Lake

Two brothers, identified as Felix Dogbey, 18, and Christian Dogbey, 25, have tragically died after attempting to rescue their 9-year-old brother from drowning in an abandoned quarry lake at Live Donorkope in Ghana’s Volta Region.

According to reports from the area, the heartbreaking incident occurred when the younger child began drowning in the dangerous quarry lake. In a desperate effort to save him, Felix Dogbey reportedly jumped into the water and successfully rescued the boy.

However, moments after saving the child, Felix encountered difficulties in the deep water and began drowning himself.

Second Brother Also Drowns During Rescue Attempt

Witnesses say Christian Dogbey quickly entered the lake in an attempt to save his younger brother Felix. Sadly, Christian also became trapped in the water and drowned during the rescue effort.

Their bodies were later recovered following search efforts by local residents and rescue personnel, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over abandoned quarry sites and unprotected water bodies across parts of Ghana, many of which have become dangerous death traps for children and residents.

Residents in Live Donorkope described the incident as devastating, especially because the two brothers reportedly lost their lives while trying to save their younger sibling.
