Cleric Advises Couples to Focus on Commitment Over Cost
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has shared practical advice for couples considering marriage, emphasizing that weddings should not be a source of financial stress. According to the Archbishop, “Wedding is a liability if you don’t have money, but is an asset if you have the means. Do weddings, but don’t stress yourself if you don’t have the means.”
He further encouraged couples to prioritize the spiritual and relational aspects of marriage over extravagant celebrations. “Just come to church with your spouse, provide rings, I’ll bless them. Go home and have babies,” he added, highlighting the importance of commitment and family over costly ceremonies.

The Archbishop’s guidance comes as a reminder that the essence of marriage lies in partnership, faith, and shared responsibility rather than lavish spending. Couples are advised to plan weddings within their means while focusing on building strong foundations for their future families.
