Bekwai Court Sentences Security Guard to 15 Years
A Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced Mohammed Abubakari, popularly known as Wofa Abu, to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after finding him guilty of defiling an eight-year-old girl in the Ashanti Region.

The court convicted the security guard after he admitted committing the offence during police investigations. His caution statement formed part of the evidence presented before the court.
Presiding judge His Honour Isaac Appiatu sentenced the convict to serve 15 years in prison with hard labour, describing the offence as serious and deserving of significant punishment under Ghanaian law.
The case has renewed public concern over child protection and sexual abuse against minors, with many Ghanaians calling for stronger preventive measures and swift justice for victims.
Authorities continue to encourage parents, guardians and community members to report suspected child abuse cases promptly to the police and relevant child protection agencies.
