Ghana international left-back Gideon Mensah is set to begin a new chapter in German football after reportedly agreeing a four-year contract with Bundesliga club FC Köln on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old defender will reportedly remain with the German club until 2029 after the expiration of his contract with French Ligue 1 outfit AJ Auxerre on June 30.

According to reports from Sky Sport Germany, Mensah is expected to undergo his medical examination before completing the necessary paperwork to officially seal the transfer.
FC Köln reportedly beat competition from several clubs, including Schalke 04, Coventry City and teams from Turkey, to secure the signature of the Ghana international.
The experienced defender is expected to replace Kristoffer Lund, who has returned to Palermo after the end of his loan spell. Mensah arrives with significant top-flight experience after making 30 Ligue 1 appearances for AJ Auxerre last season and playing an important role for Ghana during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The move represents another major milestone in Mensah’s career as he prepares for a fresh challenge in the Bundesliga. Ghanaian football fans will be eager to see how he adapts to one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
