Bail Granted and Court Directives

The court, presided over by a Circuit Judge, admitted Amporful to bail in the sum of GHe100,000 with two sureties, one to be justified, and directed her to report to the police every two weeks. The next hearing has been scheduled for March 19, 2026, for a Case Management Conference.

Details of the Alleged Fraud

The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth Frimpong, told the court that the complainant, Dorcas Koomson Ayittey, a nurse residing in the United States, first contacted Amporful in 2020 seeking assistance in purchasing a four-bedroom house. The lawyer allegedly collected $150,000 but failed to deliver on the promise, prompting the fraud charges.

Implications for Legal Professionals

This case has sparked discussions on ethical conduct among legal professionals in Ghana and the need for vigilance when dealing with international clients.
