Let Love Lead NGO is set to mobilise Ghanaians for the Green & Clean Initiative, a major environmental sanitation and tree-planting campaign aimed at promoting a culture of cleanliness, addressing flooding risks and strengthening climate resilience in Accra.

The initiative, scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, will begin at Afrikiko Restaurant and proceed through Independence Avenue before ending at the State House Forecourt.
Participants will undertake a large-scale clean-up exercise, desilt choked drains, clean public spaces and plant more than 50 trees as part of what organisers describe as a Green Legacy Corridor.

The initiative forms part of Let Love Lead NGO’s broader Culture of Cleanliness Campaign 2027–2032 and is being presented as a call for citizens, institutions, businesses and community groups to take greater responsibility for protecting the environment.

The campaign comes against the backdrop of recurring flooding in Accra, where blocked drainage channels, improper waste disposal and other environmental challenges continue to affect communities.
Let Love Lead NGO says the Green & Clean Initiative is intended to demonstrate that addressing these challenges requires not only government intervention but also sustained citizen participation.

Speaking on the initiative, Founder of Let Love Lead NGO, Dawood Akwesi Agyemang (Nene Lartey Osakonor I), popularly known as Big Dawood, stressed the importance of moving from conversations about environmental challenges to practical action.
“Accra is flooded every year. Our drains are choked and our communities continue to face the consequences of poor environmental practices. This is not the responsibility of government alone. We are not complaining; we are cleaning and greening. We want to demonstrate that when citizens come together and take responsibility for their environment, we can make our communities safer and more resilient,” he said.
The campaign has received support and endorsement from a number of public institutions, private organisations, community groups and public figures.
The Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency, Hon. Kofi Okyere Darko, has endorsed the initiative and is expected to join participants in planting a tree as part of the President’s Green Ghana agenda.
Let Love Lead NGO has also engaged the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, Hon. Yussif Jajah, who has been invited to serve as Special Guest and Host MP for the initiative.
He has committed to mobilising constituents, planting a Legacy Tree and speaking on the importance of cleanliness to tourism and the Black Star Experience.
The initiative has also attracted support from Ghanaian entertainment and community figures. Popular music duo Keche has endorsed the campaign, while organisations including BuzStopBoys and A1 Diesel have also thrown their support behind the initiative.
Beyond the immediate clean-up, organisers are positioning the Green & Clean Initiative as part of a broader effort to build a culture of environmental responsibility among young people and communities.
Volunteers are expected to receive branded shirts, gloves, nose masks, transport, water, refreshments and meals, while certificates of volunteering and community service hours will also be provided.
The initiative further promises to create pathways for continued youth participation in environmental action, including priority consideration for 5,000 paid green jobs planned for 2027, according to the organisers.
The event is expected to bring together volunteers, government representatives, community organisations, private-sector partners, media organisations, entertainers and members of the public in what Let Love Lead NGO describes as a collective effort to clean, green and reclaim Accra.
The organisation is inviting individuals, institutions and organisations to participate, partner or support the initiative as Ghana continues its efforts to build cleaner, greener and more climate-resilient communities.
