Following the directive of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, the government fully settled the baby’s medical bills and provided psychological support for the mother, who is reportedly responding positively to treatment and counseling.

Government Steps In

The intervention forms part of the government’s broader child protection efforts aimed at safeguarding vulnerable children and supporting affected families during traumatic incidents.

According to officials, the Minister personally took several steps to ensure transparency and due process in the matter.

Key Actions Taken by the Minister

  • Visited the Child Protection Unit at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital
  • Engaged the Dansoman Police to follow up on investigations
  • Met the accused person to emphasize adherence to due process
  • Settled outstanding medical bills at Mamprobi Polyclinic

Dr. Lartey expressed relief over the child’s recovery, stating: “The joy of all this is that the baby is well.”

She further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and actively support child protection efforts by reporting suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
