Police Arrest Suspect in Nsutam Robbery and Rape Case After Intelligence-Led Operation

The Eastern Regional Police Intelligence Directorate of the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to a disturbing robbery and rape incident that occurred in Nsutam in the Eastern Region.

Suspect Arrested Months After Alleged Attack

According to police, the suspect identified as Mohammed Issaka was arrested following an intelligence-led operation conducted on 4 March 2026. The operation led officers to his hideout in Sapeiman, where he was apprehended.

The arrest comes several months after the alleged incident, which reportedly took place on 15 November 2025.

Details of the Alleged Incident

Police say the suspect allegedly stormed the home of a young woman in Nsutam armed with a machete. During the attack, he reportedly threatened the victim and forced her to transfer an undisclosed amount of money to a mobile money (MoMo) account.

Investigators say the suspect also made away with the victim’s mobile phone and other valuables before fleeing the scene.

Police Recover Multiple Mobile Phones

Following the intelligence-led operation that led to his arrest, police recovered sixteen (16) mobile phones along with other exhibits believed to be linked to the suspect.

The recovered items are expected to assist investigators as they continue to examine the case and determine whether the suspect may be connected to other criminal activities.

Police Investigations Ongoing

The Ghana Police Service says the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue. Authorities are working to gather further evidence as part of efforts to ensure justice for the victim.

Police have also reiterated their commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven operations to combat violent crimes and protect communities across the country.
