According to reports, the task force, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the area in a well-coordinated operation early Friday morning. The illegal miners attempted to resist arrest, brandishing weapons, but the officers managed to subdue them without any major casualties.

The suspects are currently in custody assisting investigations, while the owner of the illegal mining site has reportedly fled the scene and is being pursued by authorities.

Officials from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources have commended the NAIMOS team for their swift intervention, stressing that the government remains resolute in combating illegal mining — popularly known as galamsey — across the country.

Residents of Osibo Town have also expressed relief, describing the operation as timely, given the environmental destruction and safety threats posed by the activities of the illegal miners.

Authorities have assured the public that the operation forms part of a nationwide crackdown to restore sanity to mining communities and protect Ghana’s natural resources.

Scott Evans explained that music for him is not just about entertainment but a divine assignment to win souls and inspire people toward righteousness. He emphasized that the gospel industry may not always offer the same financial rewards as secular music, but the satisfaction of fulfilling God’s purpose far outweighs material gains.

“I know what God has called me to do. If it means selling plantain to survive while staying true to my faith, I’ll gladly do that,” he said passionately.

His statement has sparked conversations online, with many praising his conviction and integrity in an era where fame often overshadows faith. Scott Evans continues to be one of Ghana’s most consistent voices in contemporary gospel, blending urban sounds with spirit-filled messages that resonate with young Christians.

According to eyewitness reports, the incident occurred shortly after Barau FC equalized in the 69th minute. The home fans, enraged by the goal, stormed the pitch in large numbers, attacking players and match officials. In the chaos, Nana Kwame Abraham sustained a deep neck wound after one of the fans allegedly slit his throat with a sharp object.

Security personnel and medical staff rushed onto the pitch to control the situation and provide emergency treatment to the injured Ghanaian player. The match was immediately suspended as Barau FC players and staff were escorted to safety.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage across Africa’s football community, with players, clubs, and fans condemning the act of violence. Ghana’s football circles have particularly expressed concern over the safety of Ghanaian players plying their trade in other African leagues, urging the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) to act swiftly and decisively.

Barau FC, in an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed the attack and called on the NPFL and Nigerian authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. “This barbaric act has no place in football. Our player, Nana Kwame Abraham, is receiving medical care, and we ask for prayers for his speedy recovery,” the club wrote.

As of press time, Katsina United and the NPFL had yet to issue an official response to the incident. Reports indicate that league officials have launched an investigation, with possible sanctions looming for Katsina United, including stadium bans and points deductions if found culpable.

This horrifying attack has once again highlighted the urgent need for tighter security measures and stronger enforcement of fan discipline within African football stadiums. For now, the football world prays for Nana Kwame Abraham’s recovery and demands justice for the inexcusable violence that has shocked the continent.

Reports indicate that many missionaries in northern Nigeria face constant danger — from abductions to targeted killings. Yet, their commitment to the Great Commission remains unshaken. Churches and faith-based organizations are calling on believers worldwide to lift these missionaries in prayer, asking for divine protection, strength, and provision.

Nigeria has witnessed increasing hostility toward Christians, particularly in states dominated by insurgent groups. Despite the risks, missionaries continue their work, teaching forgiveness, peace, and the power of Christ’s love.

Religious leaders urge global intercession, emphasizing that the spread of the Gospel in Nigeria is not just a local mission but a global responsibility. The call to “pray for missionaries” echoes across nations as believers unite in solidarity for those risking their lives for the sake of faith.

BREAKING NEWS: Ghanaian Trio Owusu-Oduro, Addai & Poku Receive Netherlands U21 Call-Ups 18

The trio, who have been closely monitored by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for potential senior team inclusion, are currently among Europe’s most promising young talents. Their consistent performances in the Eredivisie and lower Dutch divisions have caught the attention of both the Dutch KNVB and Ghanaian scouts.

Owusu-Oduro, the young goalkeeper making waves at AZ Alkmaar, has been a solid presence between the sticks; Addai, known for his attacking flair and technical brilliance, continues to impress at Jong AZ; while Poku, a dynamic winger, has drawn comparisons to Memphis Depay due to his pace and finishing ability.

This development adds a new twist to Ghana’s ongoing quest to convince diaspora-born talents to represent the Black Stars. With the Netherlands moving fast to secure these players early, the GFA may need to intensify efforts if it hopes to see them don Ghana’s colors in the future.

For now, all three are expected to join the Dutch U21 squad later this month for training and friendly matches as part of their international development program.

Ghana receives no nomination for the 2026 Grammys’ Best African Music Performance

0

Accra, Nov. 7, 2025 — Ghana has missed out on the Best African Music Performance nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards, as the Recording Academy unveiled this year’s shortlist without any Ghanaian acts.

The five nominees named in the category are:

Ayra Starr & Wizkid – “Gimme Dat” • Burna Boy – “Love” • Davido feat. Omah Lay – “With You” • Eddy Kenzo & Mehran Matin – “Hope & Love” • Tyla – “PUSH 2 START”

The nominations were announced today ahead of the ceremony slated for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The broader nominees list—led by Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter—was confirmed by multiple outlets following the Recording Academy’s reveal.

This continues a trend since the category’s debut in 2024, when Tyla won the inaugural award for “Water,” and again in 2025 when Tems took the honor with “Love Me JeJe”—both years also passed without a Ghanaian nominee.

Ghanaian entries had been under consideration during the submissions phase, but none progressed to the final ballot. Industry chatter in the lead-up highlighted various hopefuls, yet the final shortlist reflects continued dominance by Nigerian, South African and East African talents this year.

For context, the 2026 eligibility window covered releases from Aug. 31, 2024 to Aug. 30, 2025, meaning Ghanaian artists who released after that window will look to the next awards cycle.

As conversations spark at home about strategy and visibility, stakeholders point to consistent release planning, cross-border collaborations, robust U.S. promo cycles, and metadata/academy outreach as critical levers to convert consideration into nominations—especially in an increasingly competitive pan-African field.
