Popular Kumawood actor and filmmaker Ras Nene has addressed growing questions from fans about why he and comic actor Yaw Kyekyeku are not frequently seen together in recent productions, explaining that the move is intentional to help the young star grow independently.

Ras Nene Says the Goal Is Independence
In a statement aimed at setting the record straight, Ras Nene revealed that the reduced on-screen appearances with Yaw Kyekyeku are part of a deliberate mentorship approach. According to the veteran Kumawood figure, he wants the comic actor to build his own brand, develop his own productions, and succeed without depending entirely on him.
“The reason is simple: I’m helping him learn to stand on his own,” Ras Nene explained. “He’s now working on his own movies and skits, and I want him to grow, build his brand, and succeed independently. It’s important he can thrive even when I’m not around.”
Mentoring the Next Generation of Talent
Ras Nene emphasized that his approach with Yaw Kyekyeku reflects his broader philosophy of mentoring emerging talents in Ghana’s entertainment industry. The actor noted that he has consistently worked to guide young creatives so they can gain recognition, build sustainable careers, and generate their own income.
“I mentor many young talents,” he said. “My goal has always been to support them, help them earn recognition and income, and guide them to create their own path.”
Yaw Kyekyeku Building His Own Brand
According to Ras Nene, Yaw Kyekyeku is currently doing very well as he develops his own projects. The young comic actor is producing content independently and learning how to run his own team.
“Yaw Kyekyeku is doing great. He’s making money, and I’m teaching him how to manage his own team,” Ras Nene added.
No Conflict Between the Two Stars
Addressing speculation about a possible disagreement, Ras Nene firmly dismissed any suggestion of tension between them. He stressed that their relationship remains strong and respectful.
“There’s absolutely no disagreement between us. We’re very cool, and he remains one of the most respectful people I know,” he said.
The clarification comes as fans continue to follow both entertainers closely across social media and Kumawood productions, where their collaborations have previously generated millions of views and strong audience engagement.
While they may not appear together as often as before, Ras Nene’s message makes it clear that the move is part of a mentorship strategy designed to help Yaw Kyekyeku grow into an independent force in Ghana’s fast-growing digital comedy and film space.
