A suspected thief was allegedly apprehended and beaten by residents of Kwesimintsim Sofo Zongo in Ghana’s Western Region after reportedly attempting to break into a woman’s room in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to reports, the incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. when the suspect was allegedly seen cutting through the metal mesh on a woman’s window in an attempt to gain access to the room. An eyewitness reportedly confronted him and warned him to stop.
Despite the warning, the suspect allegedly returned moments later and managed to break into the room. His actions reportedly alerted nearby residents, who quickly responded and apprehended him before he could flee.
Videos circulating on social media show the suspect surrounded by residents after he was restrained. Reports indicate he was subjected to mob assault before the situation was brought under control.
The motive is believed to have been theft, although authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Mob justice remains illegal in Ghana, and suspected offenders are expected to be handed over to the police for investigation and due process.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and determine the appropriate legal action.
