A woman identified as Martha Nana Esi Afful, a susu collector, has appeared before a court over allegations that she absconded with GH¢156,455 belonging to 35 members of a susu savings group.

According to the allegations presented in court, Afful collected members’ contributions beginning in 2023 before allegedly going into hiding in December 2025. Prosecutors claim the funds, amounting to GH¢156,455, were entrusted to her as part of the group’s regular susu savings arrangement.
She was reportedly arrested in June 2026 and has now been arraigned before the court to answer the charges. The case is expected to proceed through the judicial process, where the allegations will be examined and determined by the court.
At this stage, the allegations remain before the court, and no conviction has been announced. The accused is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in accordance with the law.
