Two Ghanaian women have reportedly been sentenced to prison in Iraq, according to information circulating on social media and shared by multiple online platforms.
The women have been identified as Juliet Amponsah and Charity Eme, who are reportedly from Asempaneye in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality of Ghana’s Western North Region.
Reports indicate they were arrested by Iraqi authorities together with several other foreign nationals and have allegedly spent months in prison under difficult conditions. However, the exact offences leading to their reported imprisonment have not been publicly disclosed by Iraqi authorities.
