ACCRA, GHANA — The viral video involving Abu Trica’s partner, Queenie, and his close friend Detse is real, but Queenie has rejected claims that the footage proves she was cheating on the embattled businessman.
The video, which has circulated widely on social media, shows Detse planting a kiss on Queenie’s cheek. The footage quickly triggered speculation among social media users, particularly because of Queenie’s relationship with Abu Trica and his ongoing legal troubles in the United States.
The incident has since pushed Abu Trica back into Ghana’s social media spotlight, with his name reportedly trending heavily on X.
Queenie explains her relationship with Detse
Responding to the growing accusations, Queenie said Detse was not a new acquaintance who entered her life because of Abu Trica.
According to her explanation, she had known Detse and Abu Trica since 2015, and Detse was already among her close friends before she began dating Abu Trica.
She therefore dismissed suggestions that the viral encounter represented a betrayal of her partner.
The controversy has nevertheless generated intense debate online, with some social media users interpreting the affectionate gesture differently.
Abu Trica remains involved in US legal proceedings
The viral relationship controversy comes as Abu Trica, whose real name is Frederick Kumi, continues to face a separate legal matter involving alleged US romance-scam offences.
According to reports based on an unsealed US indictment, Abu Trica has been accused of involvement in a cybercrime syndicate allegedly responsible for defrauding elderly Americans of more than $8 million.
He has denied wrongdoing in that case.
Abu Trica was arrested in Ghana in December 2025 following a joint operation involving Ghanaian security agencies and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. He subsequently spent months in custody before securing GH¢30 million bail in May 2026.
Queenie has remained publicly supportive of Abu Trica during his legal battle. She was previously seen attending his court proceedings and was also present when he met his bail conditions and reunited with his family.

The latest controversy is therefore separate from Abu Trica’s criminal case.
While the video itself has circulated widely and the interaction shown in it has been acknowledged in reports, there is no established evidence from the available reporting that Queenie cheated on Abu Trica.
