A 21-year-old woman has reportedly been arrested by police in Ashaiman after allegedly attempting to smuggle suspected Indian hemp, locally known as “Ntampi,” to her boyfriend who was being held in police custody.

The suspect is alleged to have hidden the wrapped substances inside a meat pie and a yoghurt container before visiting the police cells. According to reports circulating on social media, officers on duty became suspicious during routine checks and later discovered the concealed substances.

Images from the incident, which have since gone viral online, show multiple wrapped substances allegedly hidden inside the food items brought to the detention facility.
The Ashaiman Police are yet to release an official detailed statement on the matter, but the incident has already triggered massive reactions online, with many Ghanaians debating the risks some individuals take in attempts to support detained loved ones.
Drug smuggling attempts into police cells and prisons remain a serious criminal offense under Ghanaian law and can lead to additional charges for both suspects and inmates involved.
