Courier riders across the country have raised serious concerns over the high cost of licensing and what they describe as unfair arrests by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission.

In a petition submitted to the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), the riders appealed to Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale to intervene and protect their livelihoods. According to them, the rising fees and ongoing arrests are threatening their operations and pushing many out of business.

Responding to their concerns, Mr. Basintale confirmed that he has already engaged the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Sam George, on the matter. He revealed that the Minister assured him immediate steps are being taken to stop the arrests while a lasting solution to the licensing challenges is worked out.

The intervention is expected to bring relief to thousands of young people who depend on courier services for their daily income, as discussions continue to make licensing more affordable and supportive of youth employment.
