A Ghanaian man identified in social media posts as Mr. Adjei has reportedly been stabbed in Johannesburg, South Africa, with videos circulating online showing him receiving emergency assistance. The footage, shared by the “Let’s Fix Ghana Movement” Facebook page, claims the attack was carried out by individuals described as xenophobic attackers and appeals for urgent intervention from Ghana’s High Commission in South Africa.

At the time of publication, Ghana Media has not been able to independently verify the specific claims surrounding Mr. Adjei’s attack, including the identity of the attackers or the exact circumstances of the incident. Authorities have also not yet issued an official statement specifically addressing the video circulating on social media.
The incident comes against the backdrop of heightened concern over anti-migrant tensions in South Africa. In recent days, Ghana has expressed concern over attacks targeting foreign nationals, postponed high-level bilateral meetings with South Africa, and called for stronger protection of Ghanaians living in the country.
South African authorities have, however, disputed some previous claims linking certain deaths directly to xenophobic protests, saying investigations pointed to different criminal motives in at least one high-profile case.
The Ghana High Commission has repeatedly advised Ghanaians in South Africa to remain vigilant, avoid areas where protests are taking place, and maintain contact with the mission should they require assistance.
As this is a developing story, more information is expected as officials verify the circumstances surrounding the reported stabbing.
