Addressing the squad in a relaxed atmosphere, Ibrahim Mahama said he had been impressed by what he had seen from the team so far.

“I See Good Performances”

According to Mahama, the Black Stars have shown encouraging signs and deserve recognition for their commitment. He applauded the players’ attitude and urged them to remain focused on delivering another strong performance for Ghana.

During his address, he jokingly remarked: “I see a good performance… so clap for me!”, drawing laughter and applause from the players and officials gathered inside the team’s meeting room.

Special Bonus Beyond Government Incentives

Perhaps the biggest moment came when the renowned businessman announced that, in addition to any bonuses promised by the Government of Ghana, he personally intended to reward the players.

Aside from the Government bonus, I have a very special bonus for you. I have a much better bonus for you than the taxpayers.

The statement immediately generated excitement among members of the squad, with several players smiling and applauding the announcement.

A Major Morale Boost

The visit comes as the Black Stars continue preparations for their next international assignment. Financial incentives have historically been used to motivate Ghana’s national team before major matches, although performances on the pitch ultimately remain the biggest priority for supporters.

With experienced leaders such as Jordan Ayew in the squad alongside emerging talents including Christopher Opoku and other promising players, hopes remain high that Ghana can continue its recent positive momentum.

Why This Story Matters

Beyond the financial aspect, Ibrahim Mahama’s visit reflects increasing support from influential members of Ghana’s private sector for the national team. Such gestures can strengthen team morale, reduce external pressure and reinforce national unity as the Black Stars pursue success on the international stage.
