ACCRA, GHANA — September 10, 2026 — MTN Ghana has been named Ghana’s Mobile Network Test Champion by international telecommunications benchmarking firm P3 after achieving the highest overall score among operators evaluated in Ghana.
According to the latest benchmark, MTN Ghana recorded an overall score of 5,975 points, with the assessment examining voice, data, media services, AI readiness, coverage, reliability and overall network performance.

The evaluation was based on more than 8.5 million crowd-sourced samples collected nationwide between July 20 and August 16, 2026.
MTN Leads Across Major Network Categories
MTN Ghana ranked first across several key performance areas, including Consumer Experience, Industry Experience, AI Readiness, Data Performance, Coverage, Reliability and Overall Network Performance.
The company also led in both urban and non-urban environments, reinforcing its position as Ghana continues to expand its digital infrastructure and demand for reliable connectivity grows.

MTN Ghana Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett said the recognition demonstrates that the company’s infrastructure investments are translating into improved experiences for customers.
He said reliable, high-quality connectivity is becoming increasingly important as Ghana advances its digital transformation, adding that MTN would continue investing in resilient infrastructure and technologies capable of supporting innovation and economic growth.
MTN Commits US$1.1 Billion to Network and Digital Infrastructure
The recognition comes amid an extensive investment programme by MTN Ghana.
The company has committed approximately US$1.1 billion over three years to network and digital infrastructure, with approximately US$380 million allocated for 2026.
The programme is focused on expanding capacity, strengthening network resilience, improving customer experience and accelerating the deployment of next-generation technologies.
MTN Ghana is also targeting 500 new network sites nationwide in 2026. Ghana News Agency has separately reported the US$1.1 billion investment programme and the planned nationwide rollout.
AI Readiness Emerges as a New Network Benchmark
A notable feature of the latest P3 assessment is its focus on AI Readiness, reflecting the growing importance of telecommunications infrastructure to artificial intelligence and next-generation digital services.
MTN Ghana Chief Technical Officer Reuben Opata said the company’s network strategy is designed to keep customers at the centre while ensuring the infrastructure can support emerging AI-enabled services and increasingly demanding digital applications.
30 Years of Connectivity in Ghana
The recognition comes as MTN Ghana marks 30 years of operations in the country.
