A newlywed couple from Louisiana has died after a devastating four-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish, leaving their family and loved ones mourning just months before what would have been their first wedding anniversary.
Louisiana State Police identified the victims as Dusharne Stewart, 37, and Alyssia Stewart, 35, of Prairieville. The couple were travelling together in a 2017 Nissan Altima when the fatal collision occurred on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Couple Dies In Four-Vehicle I-10 Crash
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish.
Investigators said a 2022 Ford F-250 was travelling eastbound when it struck the rear of the Nissan Altima carrying Dusharne and Alyssia Stewart. The impact triggered a chain reaction involving a Kia Carnival and a GMC Yukon.
The Stewart couple were transported to a local hospital following the crash but were pronounced deceased.
They Were Properly Restrained
Louisiana State Police said both Dusharne and Alyssia were properly restrained at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Kia sustained moderate injuries, while the drivers of the Ford and GMC were reportedly not injured.
The deadly collision prompted an investigation by Louisiana State Police as authorities worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Just Months Before Their First Anniversary
The tragedy has attracted particular attention because of the couple’s relatively recent marriage.
