Speaking ahead of Ghana’s anticipated meeting with England, Ampofo Ankrah urged supporters to remain focused on football and avoid distractions created by speculation circulating in sections of the foreign media.

“Innocent Until Proven Otherwise”
According to the NSA Director-General, Thomas Partey deserves the full support of Ghanaians unless any allegations against him are proven in a court of law. He stressed that the principle of innocence until proven guilty remains fundamental and should be respected.
Ampofo Ankrah also dismissed reports suggesting that England players could refuse to shake Partey’s hand before the match, describing such discussions as distractions that should not affect Ghana’s preparations.
Focus Remains on Football
The sports administrator encouraged the Black Stars to remain concentrated on their performance and not be influenced by external narratives. He believes maintaining focus will be crucial as Ghana prepares for another high-profile international encounter.
The comments have generated significant debate across social media, with supporters expressing differing opinions on the issue while others have urged respect for due process.
Why This Story Matters
The remarks highlight the intersection of sport, public perception and the legal principle of due process. As discussions continue, many football fans believe the focus should remain on fair treatment, the rule of law and Ghana’s performance on the international stage.
